2024 Volunteer Position Descriptions

Dock Diving is one of our most popular events and proves to be busier and busier each year. Volunteers in this area must be comfortable dealing with the public as well as the dogs. Dogs are off-leash during this event. Duties include assisting with the sign-up process, dealing with customers, keeping dogs in the correct area, retrieving balls from the water etc. This position involves being on your feet for long periods of time so please wear comfortable footwear.
And don’t forget sunblock and a bottle of water!

You are one of the first representatives of Pawlooza as thousands of our visitors will be driving in after what can be a long wait. We are looking for energetic, fun personalities who can think quickly on their feet. The objective is to get everyone parked in an efficient and effective manner. The parking areas are in large fields so you will be exposed to full sun all day and it can be dusty.
Please prepare for the day!
Comfortable footwear is essential as you will be standing for your entire shift. And don’t forget sunblock, mosquito repellant and water.

The Funzone is the ONLY area where dogs are allowed off leash to play. Entrance is permitted only after a liability waiver is completed by the dog owner.
Volunteers need to be confident and mature as they will be responsible for ensuring that waivers are completed and that visitors and their dogs are kept under control at all times. The Funzone is exposed to full sun all day so volunteers must be comfortable with this.
Don’t forget your hat, sunblock, mosquito repellent and water!

As a gate keeper, you are the first person festival goers see after what was probably a long wait in line. This position is very important in that the gatekeeper must be both friendly and approachable as well as good with money. You will be responsible for your float as well as all money coming in through your gate. In addition you will be advising festival goers which direction to go in to park their vehicle. Gate Keepers must be able to handle stressful situations, as this position is very busy throughout various times of the day.

This is one of the more important jobs and something Pawlooza is very proud of. Many people have complimented our groundskeepers for doing such a fantastic job and it’s a tradition we’d like to continue. We are very privileged to have access to such a beautiful piece of property for Pawlooza so we need to ensure it remains beautiful and clean throughout the day. You will be walking around the entire property during your shift cleaning out all the garbage and recycling bins, wiping down food and picnic tables, handing out poop bags to anyone who requires one, and ensuring the porta-potties are clean and stocked throughout the day. You will be on the grounds your entire shift so we encourage you to mingle with the attendees and their dogs.
You must have the endurance to walk around during your entire shift and be strong enough to empty potentially full garbage cans.
And don’t forget to prepare for the day! Comfortable footwear (that you don’t mind getting dirty!) is essential as you will be standing for your entire shift. And don’t forget sunblock and water. Latex gloves will be provided. -
All staff running the information booth MUST have a good working knowledge of the festival and events as well as the festival layout. Excellent customer service skills are essential to this position. You will be provided with a festival map and vendor locations and will be expected to assist customers with inquiries. Spare volunteer t-shirts will be stored at this location and volunteers who did not receive their t-shirt at the orientation session will come to your booth to sign off for their t-shirt. You will also be selling pop and water from this booth. You may be expected to assist with set-up/take down as well.
You will be in a shaded location but it is still recommended that you bring sunblock and water and wear comfortable shoes, as you will be standing for most of your shift.

All lifeguard volunteers must be certified lifeguards. There are two areas at Pawlooza where dogs are allowed to enjoy a dip in water; Dock Diving and in the Funzone. You will need to be comfortable handling a distressed dog of all sizes and breeds. Our on-site veterinarian will be available to offer assistance if further help is required. This position involves the supervision of dogs only.
Prepare to get wet and bring along water shoes and a change of clothing if needed. And don’t forget the sunblock and water!

We are very excited to bring this opportunity for our customers to purchase some Pawlooza swag. Volunteers in this area will be handling merchandise to display, helping customers and doing transactions.
This position will involve being on your feet for the entire shift so please wear comfortable footwear. You will be under a canopy but it is still recommended to bring sunblock, mosquito repellent and a bottle of water.

As a Petite Pooches volunteer you play a very important role and are responsible for ensuring all festival goers who visit the Petite Pooches area leave with a smile on their face. Our Pawlooza attendee will be coming to this area for a fun, safe off-leash experience for their Petite Pooches.
Wear comfy shoes as you will be on your feet during your shift. Don’t forget your sunblock and water!

Think never used, gently used, labels and funky finds! This is no rummage sale pile…this is PAWLOOZA VINTAGE &THRIFT. Volunteers in this area will be handling merchandise to display, helping customers and doing transactions.

Each watering station will consist of numerous water bowls for the dogs. Duties include: set-up/take down and keeping the water bowls clean and filled with fresh water. For sanitary reasons, each dog is to be provided with a fresh bowl of water and the bowl is to be washed afterwards. Depending on who is sponsoring the water station, volunteers may be required to wear a t-shirt that has a corporate logo on it. Please speak with your supervisor if you do not wish to wear a corporate t-shirt, and we’ll try to move you to a water station where this is not required.
